The thing about Egypt is that it’s not only deeply rich in history, culture and nature, but you can also visit it all year round! Due to its lovely weather most of the year, you’ll always be left with an abundance of cities to choose from no matter what the season is. So, if you are looking for an escape from the cold and gloominess of the winter, then Egypt is your destination. In this article, we’ll show you our favorite destination for a perfect warm winter vacation.
Designated as a world heritage site, Luxor is one of the richest cities, not just in Egypt, but the whole world. The city is like an open museum, its locals are literal curators who don’t just know their history very well, but can communicate it in several languages eloquently. The first time I visited Luxor I was amazed at how even the youngest children spoke at least three or four languages. Even for those who are not much into history, Luxor is still a fascinating experience.
Nile Cruises from Luxor to Aswan and back are very popular too and are my personal favorite. The cruses which are usually 3,5 or 7 days are just magical. Don’t take my word for it, ask anyone who’s been there!
Weather in Luxor
Best time to visit Luxor is between December and February where the average day temperature is 25°C (77°F ) with the sun there almost everyday which makes it perfect for a nice warm winter vacation. It gets a bit chilly at night though with an average of 8°C (46.4°F)

Are one of the popular activities in Luxor that you shouldn’t miss
Luxor is located on the bank of the Nile River 660 km (408 miles ) south to Cairo.
How to Get There
From Cairo, you can either book a domestic flight which will take only an hour or a train ( overnight trains are available) which takes 10 to 12 hours. If you don’t plan on visiting Cairo check for direct flights to Luxor or Aswan from your city.
If you started a Nile Cruise in Aswan then it’ll take you to Luxor. Buses are available too but I won’t recommend them for such a long distance especially with other cheap alternatives available
Aswan is usually visited with Luxor (usually through Nile cruises ). Yet, Aswan has its unique character. It may not have as many monuments as Luxor but it does have a charming nature, an ancient Nubian culture, and one of the kindest welcoming Egyptian population. The famous Nile rides in Aswan (Felucca rides) have such a calming effect. Until I tried it myself I used to underestimate it, but now it’s the first thing I do whenever I visit the city.
Weather in Aswan
Same as Luxor Aswan is best visited from December to February where it’s nice and sunny and excellent for winter vacations. The average day temperature is 25°C (77°F ) and at nights the average is 10°C (50°F )

If you booked a Nile cruise from Luxor then it will take you to Aswan where you can either end your cruise or ride back to Luxor depending on your reservation. Same as Luxor, I wouldn’t recommend busses for this trip.
